East Kalgoorlie Primary School students were treated last week to a large donation of sportswear given to the school by Goldfields Inclusive Sports. Several boxes of clothing arrived at the school, including shirts, jackets, singlet, track pants and bathers, with enough supplied for the students to take items home, as well as keep some stock at the school.
Goldfields Inclusive Sports representative Patricia Peterken said the donation came about as the group secured a new-look uniform and was looking to donate the older style to a local community group.
“We’ve had a huge stock of previous uniforms we were wearing up until now, and just advertised it to try and donate it to whoever and East Kalgoorlie replied to our call, and I don’t think it could be a better place to donate it,” she said.
“So hopefully they will get really good use out of it and that’s all we wish for – for the kids to be given something that they probably wouldn’t be able to get.”
School principal Suzanne Temple said her students would be more than excited to receive the donation, with the school hoping to lend a hand to some of its 142 students.
“The childenre3 will wear them proudly, and I think we will have some that will go home so that the children can have them for the sporting activities they do outside of school, and some of them we’ll be keeping for interschool sports,” she said.
